About

Hi, I’m Lilijoy, your local computer person and home sysadmin. I run my own homelab, I self-host everything I can, and I’m a big open source enthusiast.

The other half of me works with my hands. I build keyboards, I solder, I know my way around power tools, and I like helping other people learn to work with theirs. I’m a generalist, but if you make me pick one thing, it’s Linux. It’s always Linux.

Not a one-trick pony

People who meet me through computers tend to assume computers are all I do, but I’ve also worked on cars, tractors and boats, I know how to sail, and I maintain every bicycle I own myself.

What I’m looking for

Right now, that’s electronics technician work in the San Francisco Bay Area, where the field is fairly open and short of people.

IT and sysadmin work is what I enjoy most, but that market is crowded. Most companies are cutting their junior hires, and junior is where my experience puts me. The exception would be a role built around NixOS. If that’s yours, I’d love to hear about it. The formal version of all this is on /hire.

SkyseekerLabs

SkyseekerLabs is my LLC. When friends, family or people I know want to hire me for something, it gives them a proper way to do it and keeps that work separate from everything else. If it grows into a real business, wonderful. For now it’s a side thing.

Outside the computers

I read, I build things, and I play games. They’re on this site because they show there’s a person behind it, which is nice for friends and anyone who wanders in, and useful if you’re deciding whether to hire me. (A real person, promise. A robot would have fewer stickers.)

Eventually there will be pages for the stories I’ve been reading and the other things I care about. For now there’s the lid, every sticker and the quote jar, all in one place I can point people to.
